Happiness Will be Yours

I had an Ah-Ha moment yesterday.

I work at a cardiologists' office..... Yesterday a little old lady came in for her appointment alone.  She had been dropped off by the bus from the nursing facility she lives in. After her appointment we call them so they can come back to pick her up but she always likes to wait outside for them to come for her.

She had gone outside to wait for the bus over an hour before, when she came back in with her walker. She had just come back in to use the restroom, but as she slowly made her way back I asked her if she'd been waiting all this time. She just replied with a smile, "All I know is that it's the bus that gets me here and it'll be back to get me eventually. Sometimes I don't have to wait at all and other times I wait and wait.... But it always comes. And that's all that matters- It always gets me home."

Her words felt like much more than a bus schedule explanation. It felt more like a metaphor for life. My life.

We don't know how long we'll have to wait for the things we need or the things we most desire. But all we know is that the Lord brought us here and He always answers our prayers. Sometimes He comes with an answer right away. But sometimes he makes us wait and wait.....

But all that matters is that he does get us where we need to be and in His perfect timing.

Reminded me of this quote:

Sadness, heartache, and disappointment are events in life. It is not intended that they be the substance of life. I do not minimize how hard some of these events can be. When the lesson you are to learn is very important, trials can extend over a long period of time, but they should not be allowed to become the confining focus of everything you do. Your life can and should be wondrously rewarding. It is your understanding and application of the laws of God that will give your life glorious purpose as you ascend and conquer the difficulties of life. That perspective keeps challenges confined to their proper place--stepping-stones to further growth and attainment." -Elder Richard G Scott, Oct 2006 General Conference
