{Prank Cake: Cut of steak cake}

We have continued the tradition in Bryce's family of making prank cakes for each other on birthdays. We've had some doozies this year. :) The most recent was the cake we made for Bryce's brother Brandon.

We used a regular yellow cake mix and made a 9x13 cake, took it out of the pan and let it cool. Then using a knife I lightly drew/carved the shape of a cut of meat/steak. Once it looked right, I actually cut through the cake completely.
Then we used store bought cream cheese frosting and used food coloring to make the dark pink.  Leaving 1/4 of it aside as white.
While doing this, I put the carved cake in the freezer for a little bit. This helps it to not crumble so badly when you frost it. Then we covered the entire top in pink frosting. Then frosted the sides in white. Then I used the edge of a butter knife and carefully dragged the white frosting through the pink to make the fat marbling. It was looking pretty good but once you add the plastic wrap over it, nice and tight, it smoothes everything out and makes it look even more like meat!

Then I used a word document, created a text box with a border and made up my own label, including an image from google for the bar code and the logo at the top. I printed it on sticker paper, cut it out and stuck it to the plastic wrap.
