painting

Thanks for the ideas! (but) I need to do something less literal. That's been my apparent downfall for the last....forever. Pretty much I get bad critiques EVERY time and I'm sick of it. So I need to get away from painting things that are so literal.... that probably doesn't help.

OK-Christine said more direction would be good...
I want to do something that is not directly from observation or directly from a photo. I could use a photo or whatever but I want to add an abstract concept or idea or something to it so it's more "original" and not just copying....I don't really know how to explain it. I just know if I do what I have been doing I'll get another bad crit.
I just need something different

  3. Lol, Jana that first comment is awesome!
So you need something literally not literal? Like your awake and asleep ones?
Paint, um, a train station, with the noise of the station visible in the painting. Yeah.
    Or maybe a childhood memory?
We need some more direction here.

  4. Paint your longing for Bryce while you were at Jen's last week.
Paint the baby coming down from the clouds. on a slide. Paint what the others in the class paint.
How annoying to try to figure something like this. Paint Walden Pond and Transcendentalism....Better yet,Paint what Jana suggested. she is brilliant!
