I am coming to learn for myself that it is out of the ashes of grief and loss that beauty rises.
As human as we are, it can be so easy to demand from God an easier life. To ask and plead
for our
trials to end (isn't 2 years, 5 years....6 years enough for you Lord?), for our burdens to be lifted or lightened or lessened (haven't I learned what you want me to learn??), for our tears to come less (...please, please Heavenly Father...), for our sorrows to melt away & be replaced
with blessing & bounty (...the desires of my heart, lord. They're good desires...).
But when we take a step back and remember what the purposes are of our
trials, our burdens, our tears and our sorrows we can remember that
they aren't meant to be something that just happens to us. He means to have us take the
tears and burdens and sorrows and allow them to help us develop charity, love and empathy for
others, to change and expand our
hearts and to widen our understanding of what Jesus Christ suffered for each of us as individuals.
The Lord is working in me, changing me and shaping my heart to
expand a little more every day. I'm seeing Him more in my heartaches,
in my struggles, in the seemingly endless waiting and finally in the blessings that come because of them.
