school? no...work

so cherise might be stopping school...sometime. maybe after this semester or after the next....so that i can work and make the mooolah so that bryce can go to Heli. school here in logan. so we need the big bucks to send him through so that means i need to work for real. instead of my silly drawing stuff that just doesn't make enough fast enough.
SO....i have no ideas about where to work. The only thing i feel qualified to do is waitress and i know i can't handle the stress of that anymore, plus its too bad on my back. so here's asking all you wonderful ppl who know me----

WHERE SHOULD CHERISE APPLY FOR JOBS???

Please comment and give your ideas.  They will be much appreciated.

  2. I agree with Jana, if you stop school now, you may NEVER go back...babies & family tend to make it MUCH harder to juggle school in the future. (BELIVE ME!)

Having said that, a job you MAY want to apply for is being a nanny, the pay is not GREAT, but not bad either, IF you like that sort of thing, really babysitting, being a kid in a big family and having neices & nephews is pretty much all you need to be qualified. (Warning though it is fun work, it does have drawbacks: you have to deal with sometimes neurotic parents & you have all the work of being a Mom with almost none of the benefits)

  3. DON'T QUIT!!!! I will be so sad and upset if you do. You will be worth SO MUCH MORE if you stay in school! You guys can do it financially...it will all work out. It always does. Just hang in there. DON'T QUIT!!!

  4. First - your hair looks great!
Second - You could try to work at a school! Elementary schools are great and always need help (especially with after school programs) and they will work around your college schedule so YOU CAN COMPLETE YOUR EDUCATION!!!! Take it from someone who didn't - DO IT! It will all work out!

  5. Sorry Cherise, but I agree. You will regret it if you quit school. You can still get a 20 hr a week job or something and go to school. Are there any craft stores...that would be fun. Anyway, it's up to you, but I am SO happy I finished school.

  6. sadly, I agree with the above people. You're way too close to stop now. A tiny bit more debt will be TOTALLY worth you graduating. :)

  7. not that it's any of my business at all, but I really agree with everyone. I figured I'd add another vote to the "Stay in School Campaign." You can do it. :) You really can. :) You're so close. It will all work out. You've got a lot of people rooting for you. :)

  9. im not sure what a good job for you would be. i know if that sams cluba and costco pay pretty well and have good benifits and you could probably do something other than be a cashier. i hope things turn out well and i think you should do whatever is best for you and bryce and if that means for right now no school then so be it. and you know alot of places even if you have some college that you can put on your resume it helps alot. so even if something does happen to bryce at least you have some school you can put on there.

  10. Ok first of all most of the people above should be ashamed of them selves. Because they are family, and they should support you and Bryce in whatever you guys choose to do. 5 semesters is three more years which is not close to being done. You need to do what you and your husband feel is right for you to do. I am not saying you should not consider there thoughts. But to say some of the things they said was not even necessary! And they should apologize. Well anyway keep in touch.

  11. Hmmm...It's SO hard to decide isn't it? Remember that you have YEARS to pay back the school loans Bryce will need to get. People spend years paying those off and that's how they are able to go to school so DON:T feel like you need to "get it paid off". It's normal that it will take a long time and that is expected. It's like a mortgage and it's worth it. So you stay in school as long as you can!

  13. Cherise,

I know many people, men and women, who have not completed school - and they have always regreted it. I know grown women with grandchildren who are working and still trying to find a way to finish their education. Take a class or two at a time. Even if it takes you another 6 years you'll be glad you did it.

Jobs . . . what can i say, i work at Pier 1 and i LOVE IT!!!! So if you live near one i would highly recommend applying there. The staffs are friendly, the customers nice, the work fun. You can use your artistic side for setting displays. They offer benefits if you work there long enough (6 months?), and if any of your future classes could apply to the work you do Pier 1 will reimburse you for them (after you've worked there 1 year, i think).

You've got the fun and out-going personality we look for. You would be a perfect fit. And the work is steady-so the days go by fast.

But where-ever you apply . . . do it now! Holiday hiring has been underway for a while now no matter where you apply. It's a tough time to get in. So if you're really serious about working somewhere right now you should probably apply there once-a-week and call about as often to check on your status.

Take it from me, i've worked management for 4 years now. Your diligence and show of desire will get you noticed. And turning in an application once a week will always keep you on top of the hiring pile instead of pushed to the back. This time of year, openings are just suddenly needed or made available. So KEEP WITH IT!! :)

Also, most places are probably only hiring temporarily right now. But if you go in and work your hardest everyday the odds are in your favor that they will ask you to stay after holiday is over.

p.s. stay away from Limited stores if you want to be happy and stress-free where you work
